About Discount Calculator
The Discount Calculator works out a sale price and the amount saved from an original price and a discount percentage. Enter a $100 item at 20% off and it shows $20.00 saved and an $80.00 sale price. It is made for shopping, sales and price checks, where the headline discount is easy to see but the final price is what matters.
Sale signs often emphasise the percentage and hide the price. This calculator puts both numbers side by side — what you save and what you actually pay — so a “big” discount on a small item is not mistaken for a better deal than a smaller discount on a larger one.
How to use Discount Calculator
- Enter the original price in the “Original price” field.
- Enter the discount percentage in the “Discount (%)” field.
- Press “Calculate Discount”.
- Read the amount saved and the sale price.
Why use Discount Calculator
It turns a sale sign into a real price in seconds, which makes comparing two offers straightforward.
- Two numbers, not one — saving and sale price are shown together.
- Quick comparison — run two items through it and compare sale prices, not just percentages.
- Works for any currency — the result follows the currency of the price you enter.
Your privacy
The price and discount you enter stay in your browser and are never uploaded or stored.
Honest limits
This page calculates a sale price from an original price and a discount percentage. It does not offer a reverse mode where you enter the original and sale prices to find the discount.
Frequently asked questions
How is the saving calculated?
Original price multiplied by the discount percentage, divided by 100.
How is the saving worked out?
Original price multiplied by the discount percentage, divided by 100. The sale price is the original price minus that saving.
Can I enter a discount over 100%?
No sensible sale price comes from a discount above 100%, since the saving would exceed the price. Keep the percentage between 0 and 100.
Does it add tax?
No. It works on the price you enter, so enter the price including or excluding tax according to how the shop prices the item.
What if I know the sale price but not the discount?
This page calculates from original price and discount percentage. To find a missing discount, divide the saving by the original price and multiply by 100.
