Loan / EMI Calculator
About Loan / EMI Calculator
The Loan / EMI Calculator estimates the monthly payment on a loan. Enter the loan amount, the annual interest rate and the number of years, and it shows the monthly EMI, the total interest and the total repayment, plus the number of payments. It is useful before taking a loan, when comparing offers, or when checking whether a monthly payment fits a budget.
The calculation uses the standard reducing-balance EMI formula: interest is charged on the remaining balance, so early payments are mostly interest and later payments are mostly principal. Seeing total interest beside the monthly payment is the eye-opener — a small rate difference over several years can cost thousands.
How to use Loan / EMI Calculator
- Enter the loan amount in the “Loan amount” field.
- Enter the annual interest rate in percent.
- Enter the loan term in years in the “Years” field.
- Press “Calculate EMI” and read the monthly payment, total interest, total repayment and number of payments.
Why use Loan / EMI Calculator
Comparing loans by monthly payment alone is misleading. This tool shows the full cost, so a lower monthly payment that stretches over more years is not mistaken for a cheaper loan.
- Full cost visible — monthly payment, total interest and total repayment together.
- Compare offers — change rate or years and see the effect instantly.
- Budget check — see whether the monthly payment fits before you commit.
Common uses
Common uses include comparing home and car loan offers, checking whether a monthly payment fits a household budget, and seeing the total interest paid over the life of a loan. Borrowers use it before visiting a bank, so they arrive knowing roughly what a given amount, rate and term will cost each month.

Frequently asked questions
Does this include fees?
No. It calculates principal and interest only; lender fees are not included.
What is an EMI?
EMI stands for Equated Monthly Instalment — the fixed monthly payment that covers both principal and interest over the loan term.
Does this include lender fees?
No. It calculates principal and interest only. Processing fees, insurance and other charges are not included, so check those separately.
Why does a longer term lower the EMI but raise total interest?
Spreading repayment over more months lowers each payment, but interest is charged for longer, so the total interest grows.
Is this a loan offer?
No. It is an estimate for planning. A lender's actual offer depends on credit checks, fees and their own terms.
