SGPA Calculator
About SGPA Calculator
The SGPA Calculator works out your Semester Grade Point Average — the weighted average of your grades for one semester, where each subject counts according to its credits. Pick your grade scale, add your subjects with their credits and grades, and the tool shows your SGPA, total credits, total grade points and the equivalent percentage, live as you type.
Because credits weight the average, a 4-credit subject moves your SGPA twice as much as a 2-credit one. That is why the calculator asks for credits instead of a plain average of grades — a simple average would give every subject the same weight and the wrong answer.
How to use SGPA Calculator
- Pick your grade scale — 10-point, 4.0, or custom grade points.
- Add a row for each subject and enter its credits and grade.
- Remove any row you do not need with the × button.
- Read your SGPA: it updates live as you change anything.
Why use SGPA Calculator
Working out a weighted average by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, especially with different credits per subject. This tool does the whole calculation for you.
- Weighted properly — credits decide how much each subject counts, so the result matches your university's method.
- Two standard scales — 10-point and 4.0, plus a custom option for any other scale.
- Live as you type — try a different grade and see the SGPA move at once.
Common uses
Common uses include checking a semester result before the official mark sheet, seeing what grade you need in one subject to reach a target SGPA, and tracking your performance across semesters for scholarships or placements.

Frequently asked questions
How is SGPA calculated?
Multiply each subject's grade points by its credits, add those up, then divide by the total credits. For example, 4 credits at 8 points and 2 credits at 10 points gives (32 + 20) ÷ 6 = 8.67.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA covers one semester. CGPA covers all your semesters so far, weighting each semester by its credits.
Which grade scale should I pick?
Use the 10-point scale if your university grades O to F on 10 points, and the 4.0 scale if it grades A to F on 4 points. If your university uses another scale, pick Custom and enter the grade points directly.
What if a subject has no credits?
A subject with zero credits does not change your SGPA, so you can leave it out — it adds nothing to the total credits or the grade points.
Does the tool save my grades?
No. Everything you enter stays in your browser and is never uploaded, saved or shared.
