How-to guide
How to Crop a PDF
A PDF with wide white margins wastes space on the page and on screen. Cropping a PDF trims those margins so the content fills the page better when printed or viewed. This guide shows how to crop a PDF for free, in your browser — drag the kept-area box or type exact margins in points.
How to Crop a PDF — step by step
- Choose a PDF with “Select PDF file”.
- Drag the kept-area box in the preview, or its corner and edge handles, to adjust it — or type exact margins for each side in points.
- Press “Crop and Download”.
- Download the cropped PDF.
Tips
- A point is 1/72 inch, so 36 points is half an inch on each side.
- Cropping changes the visible page area, not the content — anything in the trimmed edge disappears from view, but the middle of the page is untouched.
- The same margin applies to every page. For different crops per page, split the PDF, crop each part separately, and merge them back.
Frequently asked questions
What is a point?
A PDF point is 1/72 inch, so 36 points is half an inch.
Can cropping remove a header or watermark?
Only if it sits inside the margin you crop. Cropping changes the visible page area, so anything in the trimmed edge disappears from view, but content in the middle of the page is untouched.
Can I crop different margins on different pages?
No. This tool applies the same margin to every page. For different crops per page, split the PDF, crop each part separately, and merge them back.
